How people stand for outrageous conduct. Where is the outcry against these congressmen getting their salaries? A significant fine should be levied on them for every day the gov’t is stopped. People should find out which building photographs cannot be avoided — where there are tons of reporters — and take a sign.
An attempt has been made to suggest this partial gov’t shutdown is so partial as to affect only a minority of people; untrue. The first days something like 20% of the gov’t is shutdown, but as it proceeds more and more will close, vital services will be lost, and especially the vulnerable (senior citizens, poorer people) will be badly hurt, to say nothing of rippling effects, the last of which will be default.
Listen to this man recite all who are and will be affected.
The Republicans say they are determined to thwart an attempt to extend health care to most citizens affordably, to control costs, without radically changing the system (I think it ought to be changed, but that’s another issue), a bill that was bi-partisan as it modeled itself on Heritage ideas and has been implemented only once thus far, by the Republican Romney in Massachusetts.
But clearly their agenda is broader than this: it is to ruin as far as they can those people who voted for Obama and a right centrist gov’t we have.
